How Fluorescent Light Fixtures Work

Using fluorescent lighting has many benefits and even though the light bulbs for this type of light are more expensive to purchase, they also save you enough to cover those extra expenses in just three to twelve months. Not only that, but fluorescent lighting uses less energy and you will save money on your electric bills and do something good for the environment. Although the first generation of fluorescent light bulbs were known for flickering, taking a while to light up, giving off an ugly yellowish glow and buzzing noises, the ones made today no longer do that.

It is important to know how fluorescent lights work and basically they are made up of a glass tube which is sealed with a phosphor powder covering on the inside walls of the glass tube. The tube also has an electrode located on each end and those electrodes have wires that form an electrical circuit. This is then connected to the AC power supply source.
